Duplicati is a free open source tool that can help you create backup copies of your files. You can make backups on storage drives connected to your computer, or save them on cloud storage services.
Platforms, services and protocols compatible with Duplicati
For local backups, Duplicati allows you to use both internal and external hard disks and SSD drives on your PC. You can also use pen drives, NAS, or another computer connected to the same network.
Network protocols supported by Duplicati include FTP, OpenStack Object Storage (Swift), S3, SFTP and WebDAV. Finally, cloud storage platforms include Amazon S3, Azure Blob, B2 Cloud Storage, Box.com, Dropbox, Google Cloud Storage, Google Drive, Jottacloud, Mega.nz, Microsoft Office 365 Groups, Microsoft OneDrive for Business, Microsoft OneDrive, Microsoft SharePoint, OpenStack Simple Storage, Rackspace CloudFiles, Rclone, Sia Decentralized Cloud, Storj Decentralized Cloud Storage and Tencent COS.
Set up your backups
Once Duplicati is installed, a web interface will open which will allow you to schedule your backups. You have to choose the source folder, the destination folder, the encryption, the date and time you want each backup to be made and the size of each volume. By default, 50MB files will be chosen, although you can make them as large as you like.
Choose whether or not to encrypt your backups
Backups are stored in files that are not accessible from the file browser without processing them first, so you will have to download them all and piece them back together to access the content. This is where encryption comes in handy, as it will ensure that no one can access your data. In addition, to ensure that you do not lose your backups, keys or settings, you can export the settings of each backup to reconfigure them in the future. By default, Duplicati saves backups encrypted with AES-256. If you do not want to encrypt them, Duplicati also gives you the option to save them unprotected.
Download Duplicati and manage and protect your backups.
